2021 Season Finale Was a Barn-Burner!

I'm not at the track but have been keeping up with things via Race Monitor. It looks like everyone survived the Friday test day, and after this morning's 20-minute qualifying session (on the full course) here's the line-up:

. 1st SPO (2 OA) - Mark Mercurio, A&M Auto/FlyinWrenchz Racing Camaro; 1.54.447

. 2nd SPO (3 OA) - Andy Trought, Winfield Farms Camaro; 1.55.052

. 1st GT1 (5 OA) - Ricky Sanders, PitBoxes.com Camaro; 1.59.235

. 1st GT2 (7 OA) - Danny Lowry, PitBoxes.com Corvette; 2.01.426

. 1st GTA (9 OA) - Bob Davis, AquaPro Pools Monte Carlo; 2.01.630

. 2nd GTA (10 OA) - Jack Stanford, BuyAVette.net Chevy SS; 2.02.320

. 3rd GTA (11 OA) - Jared Hincher, Matrix Auto/Morgan Lumber Camaro; 2.02.611

. 2nd GT2 (12 OA) - Dick Ruckh, Team 7 Racing Camaro; 2.03.480

. 4th GTA (13 OA) - Randy Walker, Walker Properties Camaro; 2.03.882

. 3rd GT2 (14 OA) - Mike Attaway, ATCO Demolition Camaro; 2.04.577

As noted before, Chip Bozeman is our 2021 T1 champion and Ricky can clinch the GT1 championship just by taking the green flag this afternoon, but SPO, GT2, and GTA are all still under contention. Given the closeness of the times, this 25-minute race should be a barn-burner!!!

Watching Saturday's race from a distance, so hopefully those in attendance can add details.

Everybody holds station for the first three laps, then on lap 4 Jack gets by Bob to lead in GTA. On lap 8 Andy comes by ahead of Mark in SPO, then on the next lap both Mark and Dick fail to come around. The next lap Andy fails to come around and the race is checkered well short of the 25-minute time limit after 10 laps, so I can only guess somebody was stranded in a precarious position. At the end the order (according to Race Monitor) is:

. 1st GT1 (3 OA) - Ricky Sanders, PitBoxes.com Camaro; 1.58.409

. 1st GTA (4 OA) - Jack Stanford, BuyAVette.net Chevy SS; 2.00.779

. 2nd GTA (5 OA) - Bob Davis, AquaPro Pools Monte Carlo; 2.02.169

. 1st GT2 (6 OA) - Danny Lowry, PitBoxes.com Corvette; 2.02.891

. 3rd GTA (7 OA) - Jared Hincher, Matrix Auto/Morgan Lumber Camaro; 2.02.443

. 2nd GT2 (8 OA) - Mike Attaway, ATCO Demolition Camaro; 2.03.592

. 4th GTA (9 OA) - Randy Walker, Walker Properties Camaro; 2.03.476

. 1st SPO (11 OA) - Andy Trought, Winfield Farms Camaro; 1.54.480

. 3rd GT2 (13 OA) - Dick Ruckh, Team 7 Racing Camaro; 2.03.031

. 2nd SPO (19 OA) - Mark Mercurio, A&M Auto/FlyinWrenchz Racing Camaro; 1.54.862

What that means in the championships still TBD.

GT1:

. 1st Ricky Sanders - 115

. 2nd Zach Monette - 104

GT2:

. 1st Danny Lowry - 155

. 2nd Dick Ruckh - 148

GTA:

. 1st Jack Stanford - 168

. 2nd Jared Hincher - 157

. 3rd Randy Walker - 144

SPO:

. 1st Andy Trought - 157

. 2nd Mark Mercurio - 144

Zach is at the Runoffs in Indy so Ricky has pretty much clinched the GT1 championship. GT2, GTA, and SPO are still to be decided by Sunday's 25-minute race on the short (NASCAR) course. And since the track has changed, qualifying tomorrow WILL matter.

As stated below, Mark Mercurio spun in Saturday's race and was collected by Dick Ruckh, so both of them are out for Sunday. I also see that Bob Davis did not turn any laps during the 20-minute qualifying session but don't know why. This is how they'll line up on Sunday afternoon:

. 1st SPO (2 OA) - Andy Trought, Winfield Farms Camaro; 1.16.367

. 1st GT1 (3 OA) - Ricky Sanders, PitBoxes.com Camaro; 1.16.545

. 1st GTA (4 OA) - Jack Stanford, BuyAVette.net Chevy SS; 1.17.880

. 2nd GTA (5 OA) - Jared Hincher, Matrix Auto/Morgan Lumber Camaro; 1.18.523

. 1st GT2 (6 OA) - Danny Lowry, PitBoxes.com Corvette; 1.19.077

. 2nd GT2 (8 OA) - Mike Attaway, ATCO Demolition Camaro; 1.19.362

. 3rd GTA (7 OA) - Randy Walker, Walker Properties Camaro; 1.20.570

. no time - Bob Davis, AquaPro Pools Monte Carlo

. no time - Dick Ruckh, Team 7 Racing Camaro

. no time - Mark Mercurio, A&M Auto/FlyinWrenchz Racing Camaro

While SPO and GT2 have now been decided (as well at GT1 and T1), GTA is still up for grabs - seven points separate Jack and Jared with a nine point swing between first and third. Good luck to all this afternoon.

Looked like an exciting race on Sunday afternoon. Jared got by Jack briefly to lead in GTA, then blew the engine in the Esses. Right after that Jack's shift lever broke so he ran the rest of the race in fourth gear. Mike got by Danny briefly but then Danny rallied at the end. Ricky's ignition shut off after two laps, and Andy ran second until the last two laps then got by for the overall win and set a new SPO track record as well!

At the checkers:

. 1st SPO (1 OA) - Andy Trought, Winfield Farms Camaro; 1.14.573

. 1st GT2 (3 OA) - Danny Lowry, PitBoxes.com Corvette; 1.18.777

. 2nd GT2 (4 OA) - Mike Attaway, ATCO Demolition Camaro; 1.19.328

. 1st GTA (5 OA) - Jack Stanford, BuyAVette.net Chevy SS; 1.17.753

. 2nd GTA (6 OA) - Randy Walker, Walker Properties Camaro; 1.20.281

. 3rd GTA (15 OA) - Jared Hincher, Matrix Auto/Morgan Lumber Camaro; 1.18.425

. 1st GT1 (17 OA) - Ricky Sanders, PitBoxes.com Camaro; 1.16.318

. no time - Bob Davis, AquaPro Pools Monte Carlo

. no time - Dick Ruckh, Team 7 Racing Camaro

. no time - Mark Mercurio, A&M Auto/FlyinWrenchz Racing Camaro

Ends up Andy also set a new SPO track record for the short course!
